Viva Salud is a Belgian NGO convinced that every individual and every community has the right to health. That’s why we support social movements in their fight for the right to health. In the Philippines, Palestine, the Democratic Republic of Congo and elsewhere, we work in partnership with social organisations on joint campaigns, learning from and strengthening each other. To do this, we focus our work on three main themes:
For public health systems
Most countries in the world recognise the right to health. Yet at least 400 million people around the world do not have access to essential healthcare. Inequalities are everywhere. They make people sick.
For healthy working conditions
People spend a large part of their lives working. The conditions in which they do so have a major impact on their health. The right to health cannot exist without the right to healthy working conditions.
Social movements for the right to health
Social movements are on the front line in defending and promoting the right to health. Their ability to contribute to public debate and take part in decision-making processes depends to a large extent on the openness of the democratic spaces in which they operate.
